Over 20 years' experience working in the care sector

From a young age, I had a fondness for dogs, and I trained my grandmother's Jack Russell Terrier. Although I couldn’t have a dog of my own as a child, I still took friends' and family members' dogs for walks and shared and cared for other pets growing up. I would also spend time at the local cat and rabbit rescue centre. I always had a particular affection for large breeds, particularly German Shepherds. When I finally got one, I quickly realised how much work was involved in raising a puppy.
However, once I established a routine and completed basic training, things improved. Then he entered adolescence, and his hormones went haywire. Whenever we left the house, my previously well-behaved dog would become a nightmare: spinning, barking, lunging, and showing his teeth.
It was heart-breaking, and I felt alone and isolated. I knew I had to help him and myself. This was the start of my journey of learning. I spent a lot of time, effort, and money studying, researching, and training to help him. Eventually, I discovered that he was genetically anxious, which caused his reactive and fearful behaviours.

Once I knew this, I worked tirelessly to build his confidence, trust, and relationship with me. We had a long way to go, but eventually, he began to look to me for guidance and reassurance. Through this experience, my dog taught me so much, and I became a better person because of him. He also inspired me to assist others with their dogs who were experiencing similar issues.

My name is Ange, and I am a Qualified Canine Behaviour Practitioner and dog trainer, with various qualifications and continuing professional development courses. I am a Licensed Family Dog Mediator after completing my L.E.G.S Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediator Professional Course with Kim Brophy and applying for my licence. Before starting my professional career with animals, I spent over 20 years working in the care sector in various roles with vulnerable adults and children.
